Mario Batali fan on Iron Chef America...which Dakota mentions is her goal in life. However, I think she would be better suited on the show, Ace of Cakes, given that she's a pastry lover. I did not grow up cooking. I grew up using a microwave so I'm proud to say that I cooked my first fresh wild caught salmon with a bit of curry and garlic, served with some pasta and mixed green from a CSA for which I signed on.

Anyone new to CSA's, they are Community Supported Agriculture...you buy a share of the farm and every week you get fresh veggies and fruits (whatever happens to grow well that week), freshly picked that week. I belong to Golden Earthworm from Long Island but Union Square in NYC has a vast array of fresh foods from NY farms...homespun yarn and roving too, at times.
